If you try to connect to the mail server and it is unavailable, and you are
using the 1.0.3 binary or Python 2.4 with source, and the DNS lookup
succeeds even though the connection fails, then an error message is written
to the log until SpamBayes is restarted or reconfigured. (This is a bug
with Python, IMO).

> How can we shut off the log file ?

You cannot. (With the binary. If you run from source you can do whatever
you like).

> How can we limit, and or control the maximum size of the log file ?

You cannot. (With the binary. If you run from source you can do whatever
you like).

A solution for this has been checked in, so will appear in the next release.
For the moment, if you cannot guarantee that the mail client will only check
for mail when the server is reachable, then you will need to either use
1.0.1 or run 1.0.3 from source with Python 2.3, or run CVS head with Python
2.2/2.3/2.4.
