That's not a reason not to use the Outlook plugin on any client computer that has Outlook. Outlook will let you set up an "account" that picks up its mail from a POP3 server, and that mail gets filtered just as it would if it came in via the usual Exchange protocol. I do that all the time on my home network.

I wouldn't try to talk you out of using the proxy if that's what you prefer. But I sure wouldn't use the proxy in a situation where I could use the plugin.
