[Spambayes] first time user

I turned on Spam Bayes for the first time and all incoming messages started
being filtered to an unknown folder that I didn't knowingly designate.  I
can't find them.  I discovered and disabled the 'enable filter' so I can
receive emails.  Where might the messages have been sent?  How to start the
program properly?
