[Spambayes] spambayes not filtering due to pop3 server not responding

hope you can help.

I've installed spambayes and have changed my incoming mail settings to
'localhost'.

Whenerver I start my computer and log into the internet (I'm on dial-up) and
fire up Otlook Express (OE), OE correctly and automatically reciven incoming
messages and this is indicated in its bottom tray/bar.  However, after 60
seconds it times out and reports the pop3 server is not responding.

Within OE account settings i've extended the 60 seconds to 300 seconds but
to no avail.  I dont think the time out is due to the receipt of large
files.

I run Windows XP Pro SP2.
I have installed spambayes-1.0.4.
I have attached the log files as found in my win\temp folder.
I have attached the OE error message.

Can you please help.
