[Spambayes] my spam folder disappeared from my folder list?!

I have had the same experience, but I believe my own carelessness caused
the problem: (I'm using Outlook for email)
I believe that I had the folder selected, instead of just a message
within the folder. A delete then deletes the folder, not the individual
message.
 
If you notice in time using Outlook, before permanently deleting email,
you can "undelete" your spam folder. If not, it's gone.
 
Something similar may well hold true for other email programs as well.
