You've probably heard this a thousand times, but just in case you
haven't: any machine running Windows 98 (or any other version for which
security patches are no longer available) is in danger if it's connected
in any way to another computer, even if it's only for e-mail. There are
all sorts of ill-intentioned people out there who would love to exploit
the security deficiencies of your computer to steal your passwords,
credit card numbers, and anything else of value that is stored or
entered on it.
