[Spambayes] Restarting problem

Dale,

Problem solved when I re-booted the PC. Doh!

BTW, with everything now working properly again, there is no entry for SpamBayes in Control Panel\Administrative Tools\Services. Should there be?

  Jocelyn,

It sounds like SpamBayes is not loaded and running.
Have you check in Control Panel ==> Administrative Tools ==> Services?
If installed as a service, it should appear there. If the Spambayes Service is listed there as "manual" or "disabled", change to automatic.
Then start the service. There also might be an icon in the system tray from which you can start the program.

    Hi,

Help needed! I've been running SpamBayes POP3 Proxy Binary Version 1.0.4 successfully for several weeks under Windows XP Pro SP3. My mail client is Outlook Express 6, & my web browser is Firefox 3.0.10. Everything's been working like a dream.

Yesterday I mistakenly hit either the 'Stop' or the 'Exit' button on my SpamBayes 'Home' page as I was closing down my PC for the night. Now every time I try to receive email, I get the message "The connection to the server has failed" relating to the two ports that SpamBayes is intercepting as a proxy, namely 8110 & 8111. When I try to get into SpamBayes (to 'Review messages' or 'Configure') via the tray icon, my browser tries to connect to http://localhost:8880/config but fails.

I can't find any other way in to restart SpamBayes - I've read your trouble-shooting guide but haven't found any relevant tips. I feel sure there's a terribly simple solution that I've missed. I'd prefer not to have to start over as I've got a nicely trained system after more than 1100 sessions!

Thanks in advance if you can help me crack the problem. Although I can't receive email, I can still read webmail.

    Kind regards,

    Joss Hartland-Swann
