Looks reasonably good - I can't think of anything particularly brutal.
You should, however, be explicit about precisely where you propose
each entry in sys should go. Saying "etc..." is cheating :-)

Once you list everything, I expect you'll get a much more, shall we
say, "lively" discussion!

But I've no problem with the PEP in principle.
