Roché and I thought it would be cleaner, it would avoid all this 
umask/setgid trickery we are currently using.  We discussed it again 
this morning and would appear that our uneasiness with this setup stems 
from previous experiences with hosting multiple virtual hosts (belonging 
to different people) on the same machine.  Specifically, any other 
application you run under apache on this machine will have write access 
to roundup files.  At the moment there isn't any, so it is not really a 
problem.  We therefore decided to leave it as is for the moment (that 
is, to use mod-python) and (if necessary) revisit this decision if 
another application ever needs running through this apache instance.
