+1 for Antoine. I hate to download patches to my PC just to be able to view them. Considering that we are speaking about default mime type, .zip archives and other extensions will be unaffected, so impact is minimal.

Martin, I do not understand your concerns about text mode browser security. You should not use browsers that control your system using binary characters from text/plain web pages. It puts all Python infrastructure at risk.
