Message-ID: Dear TriPython members, I recently retired from my position at Metabolon, and I?m currently spending 10-15 hr/wk working as a board member of a small local nonprofit, the Guatemalan Student Support Group. (www.gssg-usa.org) We provide scholarships to 25-30 Mayan university students in Guatemala. (They are mainly in Alta Verapaz, which is perhaps the poorest region in a poor country.) Our graduates have become nurses, teachers, and lawyers, and recently our first physician completed his studies. We also provide some support to a middle/high school, Instituto Maya Comunitario K?amolb?e. https://www.facebook.com/imackamolbe/ Metabolon was kind enough to donate 23 recently retired laptops to help respond to a request to rebuild IMaCK?s computer lab. Our challenge now is shipping. It appears that we can ship 10-12 laptops by FedEx for $780, or about $75 each. So, I?m asking if you are willing to send a computer to the school for Christmas, or maybe just the keyboard or screen :) If so, you can click on the ?donate? button on our website, then ?Educational Programs?, and then choose ?school supplies? from the drop down menu. If TriPython members can fund half the $780, we?ll acknowledge the group along with Metabolon in our social media posts and newsletters. I expect to work with Metabolon on their publicity, and I will ask that TriPython be included in that, too. And of course, we?ll give you a tax receipt. And we'll be extremely grateful. Kris Kringle Kalloway has already put in some seed money to inspire you, so thank you Chris! If you have any questions, please contact me. Rex -- Rex A.
