 Danny, it looks like your recipe has a typo.  self.impl will always end 
up being _GetchUnix().

    def __init__(self):
        try:
            self.impl = _GetchWindows()
        except ImportError: pass
        self.impl = _GetchUnix()

    def __call__(self): return self.impl()
