[Tutor] help with IDLE

Newbie here.  I just downloaded python v.2.3 onto windows xp, into directory 
C:\python23 (the default).  The command line opens up and works great, but 
the IDLE script doesn't.  When I try to open it, it seems to try to start 
up, but nothing is displayed on the screen.  Is anyone else having this 
problem?  I'd love to get started learning the language if I could fix this. 
  Any help is greatly appreciated!
