If you're already a "programmer", then the python tutorial at
http://docs.python.org/tut/tut.html + a working python installation is
enough IMHO.

If you want to learn programming itself, perhaps you should take a look at
http://wiki.python.org/moin/BeginnersGuide/NonProgrammers
