random.random is not a PRNG instance. It is a bound method:

py> random.random

Perhaps you might want to check again?

py> rng.randint(1, 6)
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module>
AttributeError: 'builtin_function_or_method' object has no attribute 
'randint'
