yes -- thanks to the new unicode string type that
is currently being added to the python core.  the
SXP library relies on this and the new unicode reg-
exp engine (SRE).

afaik, the unicode and SRE sources will appear in
the CVS version early next year.  SXP should be
available soon thereafter.

as for when there will be an official 1.6 release,
your guess is as good as mine ;-)
