Sean,
I think what Paul et al. are suggesting is a line-oriented subset
of XML, like a 1-to-1 mapping to ESIS.

That keeps everything looking like XML, but introduces a new
problem: the "<" and ">" symbols will have to be heavily escaped
to prevent unintended redirection with CLI tools.

IMHO: keep the ESIS look&feel.
