Hi,
I've implemented a solution for the current problem with
4Suite 0.11 and PyXML 0.7. It seems to me the most elegant
way to work around the problem:
- python-xml 0.6.6 is coming back in Debian and shipped as
python-xml-0.6 (xbel-utils-0.6 is also provided for those
willing to use xbel-utils and having 4suite on their system;
the xbel package does not depend on anything python-related so
the one from 0.7 is fine).
It conflicts with python-xml.
- python-4suite now depends on python-xml-0.6
- 4xslt and 4xpath are now back in python-xml 0.7 since the
conflicts between python-xml-0.6 and python-xml make it
impossible to have both python-4suite and python-xml installed
at the same time.
All packages are ready for upload. However, python-xml-0.6 will
have to enter the archives before I upload the remaining packages,
in order to ensure that dependencies are met.
You can test them right now:
http://people.debian.org/~jerome woody/
in /etc/apt/sources.list
(I tested myself that APT resolves dependencies correctly).
Alexandre (or anyone else), could you please have a look
at http://bugs.debian.org/141549.
I have already applied patches for #140148 and #133548.
Post-woody plans.
-----------------
Once Woody is released as well as 4suite 0.12, we'll be
able to remove python-xml-0.6.
I'll probably upload python-4suite 0.12 and then it will be the
right time for me to give all my Python packages to
Alexandre Fayolle since he's the right guy for this job and
I don't want to take care of Python packages anymore.
I will help him on packaging and will sponsor him though.
Regards,
