| faster machines, etc. For now we have the compile time option and
| since RedHat chose to activate it, there's a good chance that we'll

That's good news (both items :-).
Of course, the abstract character issue remains. Are we likely to see
support for normalization in the Python C core any time soon?
Specifically Normalization Form D...
