So if I understand correctly, your rectangle sits around x = y = 0 and you would like to attach to it a “2-d” lead that encompasses (for example) all of x < 0. Is this what you mean? Leads in Kwant must be 1-d periodic, so there’s no way to do what you want. In principle support for such > 1-d leads could be added, but this would be a large research and development project. Perhaps what you want can be achieved in a different way, for example by using a lead that is much wider than your rectangle. The lead would have to be coupled to the rectangle in a way that does not give rise to the scattering that you want to avoid. Christoph
