[lxml-dev] Reparenting a node

I have a doc A and a doc B, I'd like to put a node extracted from A in the document B but I always get a ValueError: ValueError: Element is not a child of this node. I didn't find any "setparent" in the API. Hi, I've tried to build lxml from trunk today, on Win32. SyntaxError when parsing UTF8-BOM encoded XML file

Hello, I run into some issues when trying to parse a UTF8-BOM file (Python 2.7). It was working fine until version 3.2.5 but it is not starting from version 3.3.0-beta1. This is the error I've been getting when trying to do etree.iterparse(path, tag='item'): File "iterparse.pxi", line 166, in lxml.etree.iterparse.__next__ (src/lxml/lxml.etree.c:116372) XMLSyntaxError: Document is empty, line 1, column 1 I had a look at tests/test_elementtree.py and saw that it's different from what it used to be years ago: def test_encoding_utf8_bom(self): utext = _str('Søk på nettet') uxml = (_str('<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>') + _str('<p>%s</p>') % utext) bom = _bytes('\\xEF\\xBB\\xBF').decode("unicode_escape").encode("latin1") xml = bom + uxml.encode("utf-8") tree = etree.XML(xml) self.assertEqual(utext, tree.text) In the mailing list I only managed to find this thread: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.python.lxml.devel/2967/match=bom but it's not relevant because it's from 2007. The textarea used to be cleared before the new content was set, which removed the name attribute. Other changes ------------- * Some basic API classes use freelists internally for faster instantiation. This can speed up some ``iterparse()`` scenarios, for example. * ``iterparse()`` was rewritten to use the new ``*PullParser`` classes internally instead of being a parser itself.

[PATCH] autodetect top dir in downloaded libs

As of now, `setup.py --static --static-deps' fails with: <...> Retrieving "ftp://ftp.zlatkovic.com/pub/libxml/zlib-1.2.5.win32.zip" to "libs\zlib-1.2.5.win32.zip" Unpacking zlib-1.2.5.win32.zip into libs Traceback (most recent call last): <...> File "C:\Users\native_api\Documents\lxml\buildlibxml.py", line 47, in download_and_extract_zlatkovic_binaries d = unpack_zipfile(destfile, destdir) File "C:\Users\native_api\Documents\lxml\buildlibxml.py", line 62, in unpack_zipfile assert os.path.exists(edir), 'missing: %s' % edir AssertionError: missing: libs\zlib-1.2.5.win32 The reason is that the top level dir in ftp://ftp.zlatkovic.com/pub/libxml/zlib-1.2.5.win32.zip is `zlib-1.2.5', not `zlib-1.2.5.win32' as unpack_zipfile() expects. The patch provided autodetectes the top dir name in downloaded files which fixes the issue. Though the site's maintainer probably needs to fix the root cause too.

lxml 3.3.0 beta 5 released as release candidate

Hi all, I just released the fifth beta of lxml 3.3.0 as a final release candidate. It contains some major bug fixes again, but also a critical change under the hood that became possible with Cython 0.20. The final release is expected as soon as Cython 0.20 is released (so there will be a rebuild, but otherwise no further changes). Please give it all the testing you can afford, especially on MS-Windows, for which I added a bit of code for some Unicode parsing corner cases in CPython 3.3.
