It can't be using tcsh because there is no 'for' at all in tcsh.

As for bourne shell, don't know how to get the version info.
Bourne shell is sh, but on most systems with bash, sh is just a link to bash (Bourne again shell).
What does
bash -c 'for p in ; do echo Huh? $p ; done'
do?
