Newbie question - installing on GoDaddy?
Has anyone installed mailman on a GoDaddy based website? Did you have problems? I need this functionality, but I'm not that much of a techie to feel comfortable without asking someone who has done this before.
Thank you.

Hi Vicki,
Mailman generally requires:
- Python (v3 now, since v2 is EoLed)
- A Database (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLIte)
- An SMTP server to process the e-mails to/from the mailing list(s)
- A webserver engine (Apache, nginx, lighttpd) to serve the web UI for its various purposes.
If the Godaddy based website meets the above requirements, then you are very close to installing Mailman! If Godaddy offers it as a package, then why not??

Are you referring to a Godaddy built website or a Godaddy VPS? If you need Mailman then Godaddy does offer access to Mailman 2 lists via their cPanel hosting. I would also consider using a third-party vendor such as ourselves to outsource your Mailman 2 needs to:

Vicki, there are a lot of moving parts to installing Mailman on a website, so I'm afraid you'll get more answer than you had question. ;-/
GoDaddy's least-expensive "web hosting <https://www.godaddy.com/hosting/web-hosting>" plan includes CPanel which, on many web-hosting vendors, provides a "one-click" installation of Mailman. Unfortunately, about four years ago GoDaddy unceremoniously removed Mailman from their cPanel options. That doesn't preclude installing Mailman on a GoDaddy-hosted website if you really need to, but it raises the complexity and pain astronomically.
Fortunately, there are quite a few web-hosting vendors out there who still include Mailman in their cPanel options; at least one of them has been a frequent contributor to this discussion forum. Perhaps he'll contact you off-list.
Once you find a host that has a Mailman-installing cPanel however, you're on your own for _configuring_ Mailman to your needs, but all the nice folks here can help you with that.
