how to disable the password

Just installed mailman, like it very much. First I tried majordomo and ezmlm(I use qmail btw), but they couldn't satisfy me. The INSTALL-file explained everything nicely. BUT, i have a question: Is there no stripped-down version that does only this: a read-only announcements-list (to send news every week) if there is an email send to the list *there can be the subscribe-command in the subject *there can be the unsubscribe-command in the subject *the admin has a command to send an email to the subscribed people. (with a shell-command or something) *if there are any reply's, they go to the admin's mailbox *no digests, maybe an archive would be easy NO passwords, users who see the list of subscribers etc. How could i do this maybe put in my ~qmail-alias/.qmail-announcelist #(pseudo-code) |grep -i ^Subject: Subscribe|awk '{printf $3}' > subscriberlist |grep -i ^Subject: unsubscribe|awk '{printf $3}'|for i in read i;do grep -v subscriberlist>subscriberlist |mail announcelist-admin I know I'm not much of a coder, but i don't have a lot of time to put up the list, and i don't find some things like how to disable a password. You get the added advantage that you can run some lists (where the web interface is important) with Mailman and other lists (where you need to get very high performance with limited resources) with Ezmlm. Bulk/announce

Hi! During the last weeks I have done some postings most of which were small options to make mailman some sort of bulk mailer. Although I would like to keep mailman as a mailinglist manager I'm finding mailman not the best option for bulk mailing/announcement. Any idea's how to make Mailman more towards a bulk mailer (with the execelent bounce handling and other nice tricks intact)? Or should I step to another program/script or ezmlm (and qmail)? subscribe and unsubscribe addresses

Is it at all possible with mailman and exim to set up subscribe and unsubscribe addresses like used on yahoogroups or other lists run by ezmlm. for example to subscribe to list test I would send a blank email to test-subscribe(a)mydomain.com etc. I think it would be possible by setting up a director rule in exim or by adding an extra alias and pipeing it through procmail or something. Can I install Mailman on a hosted site?

Hi, Mailman looks like a great mailing list program. I am working with a friend who currently has a web site hosted by Prohosting.com. She runs a mailing list from it using EZMLM which is provided by prohosting. The list has nearly 550 subscribers and generates 100-200 posts a day. After reading the install procedures for Mailman I have to admit that I am not quite up to dealing with the install as of yet. I am guessing, but I would say I am at an intermediate level of ability when it comes to installing various CGI or PHP scripts. "Cron" has no meaning to me, alas! I do apologize for my ineptitude, but is there any way we can use the Mailman software even though the site and mailing list is hosted by Prohosting.com? They do have Python and I know the path. They do have Python and I know the path. There are some hosting providers that will allow you to install and run a system like Mailman. This question is, however, better directed to Prohosting.com. If they won't do it I know there are readers of this list who would host a list for you. If you ask nicely and greenly : ) Good luck, Ben
