Sry for replying to myself...

Are folks familiar with distutils?  I'm particularly thinking for packaging 
purposes.  I think my setuptools-packaging experience is likely to stop at 
adding support for downloading dependencies, since anything more *requires* 
setuptools and I want to support distutils as well.

Anyway, I guess I'd like to make the talk "Install w/ Setuptools; Package w/ 
Distutils".
