As a lurker considering coming to my first meeting, I'm actually glad
somebody made a big deal about it. This kind of
put-down/insult/attitude turns me away from many activities involving other
programmers. So I'm glad somebody mistakenly thought it was very rude, and
that it was all cleared up as friendly banter between two people who know
each other as a small part of an otherwise intelligent and thought-provoking
conversation. I'm A-OK with that. If nobody had spoken up, I never would
have known it was all in good fun.
