Monday Contact Class at Velocity Dance Center - 915 E. Pine St. Seattle,
WA
This ongoing class takes an organic, release-based approach to contact,
exploring the expressive and experimental nature of touch supported
through efficient and safe use of the body's structure. Covers basic
contact locomotion and weight-sharing principals, key support positions
and introduces intuitive compositional concerns to create balanced,
conscious and aware dancing. 
December 5th-6th, 13th-14th
Washington, DC Improvisation Festival
This annual event brings artists from around the globe to Washington,
D.C. to perform improvisational works. Artists include Jennifer Nugent
and Paul Matteson from NYC, Eszter Gal and Istvan Grensco from Hungary,
The Phffft! Company (Cyrus Khambatta, Tonya Lockyer, Sean Ryan) from
Seattle/NYC, Maida Withers from Washington D.C. and many others. Tickets

December 13th and 14th
Under Construction Performances - 915 E. Pine St. Seattle, WA
Participants in Cyrus’ Contact Performance Workshop will present a
culmination of eight weeks of rehearsal and class in contact and other
improvisational performance training. The short piece entitled, Waiting
for Nothing, will be performed as part of the Under Construction Series
at 8pm on Sat and Sun evening. Cost usually @ $12.
January 15th-19th 2004
Improvisation Retreat - San Miguel de Allende MEXICO
Improvisation retreat taught by Cyrus Khambatta (USA) and Caroline Waters
(UK) in this historic colonial town founded in 1542 and located in the
Guanajuato region of Mexico two hours north of Mexico City. In addition
to work indoors and outdoors, we will visit the Escondido Hot Springs and
spend contemplative research in the area of contact, composition and site
specific work. Fee of $395 includes housing, workshop fee and some food
costs.
Jan 1st- March 27th
Physical Theatre Workshop at Freehold Studio - 1525 10th Ave, Seattle
This workshop taught by Cyrus Khambatta and John Abramson combines two
complimentary physical disciplines: The Viewpoints, (Shape, Space, Time,
Emotion, Movement and Story), and Suzuki training. These methods are
integrated as tools to increase awareness and attention to detail, to
expand expressive range and find greater presence enabling performer to
create and engage the imagination. Contact Freehold Theater at

March 5th-7th 2004
Velocity Dance Center – 915 E. Pine St. Seattle, WA
These performances will present half an evening of choreographed work
against half an evening of improvised work. Several premieres, some
reworkings of older pieces and the brand new all-star company line-up
including Paige Barnes, Pablo Cornejo, Scott Davis, Cyrus Khambatta, Amii
LeGendre, Tonya Lockyer and Alia Swersky promises to dazzle, divulge,
daze and dumfound. Performances have a pay-as-you-can evening as well as
Velocity’s regular entrance fee. 
- Supported provided in part by The Seattle Arts Commission, The King
County Cultural Affairs Division, The Harkness Foundation for Dance and
numerous individual donors.

West Seattle New Dance Festival - ArtsWest – 4711 California Ave SW
See description above for Velocity March 5-7. Additional performances
will also be held at various white center locations in West Seattle in
the month of April.
May 1-7
Poitiers/Nantes Festival Performance Opportunity in France -
Potiers/Nantes, France
This a a rare opportunity to take part in the Poitiers and Nantes
University International Dance Festivals, in the beautiful and historic
Poitiers and Nantes, France. This festival, open to all European college
students is accepting, by special arrangement, a group of American
students to take part in the festival. In addition to having access to
free classes, workshops, discussions and performances, students can
present a 10-15 minute choreographed or improvised work. Participation is
only $700, which includes airfare, lodging and food for the cost of
airfare alone. Don’t miss this unique opportunity.
