3 hr performance workshop with Nicole Bindler and Alli Ross.

Part 1 -New Dance Technique
---------------------------
Nicole will lead a warm up based on Yoga, Feldenkrais and New Dance
Technique. The warm up will focus on initiating from both our core and
periphery, and reconciling our internal sensation with the outside
world. This slow, deep warm up will prepare our bodies for full,
powerful dancing in the context of a choreographed movement phrase.

Part 2 -Improvisation and Composition.
--------------------------------------
Alli will facilitate solo, duet and group improvisation scores based on
her work with Deborah Hay and Debra Bluth. We will develop compositions
based on our improvisational research. Elements in the environment and
photographs supplied by Alli will also deepen our investigation

---------------------
Nicole Bindler LMT, holds a BA in Dance and Poetry from Hampshire
College. She has studied Modern Dance, Contact Improvisation,
Composition, Martial Arts, Yoga, Butoh, Pilates, Body-Mind Centering and
Feldenkrais. Some of her most influential teachers have been Wendy
Woodson, Felice Wolfzahn, Cathy Caraker, Rythea Kaufman, Jessica Newman,
Deborah Butler and Debra Bluth. Nicole Bindler has shown her own
multimedia work throughout Boston, the Northeast, Midwest and in Berlin.
She has performed in the work of Brenda Divelbliss, Jennifer Hicks and
has ongoing collaborations with dancers Lailye Weidman, Alli Ross and
Joe Burgio. She has worked with many experimental musicians including
Bhob Rainey, Greg Kelley, Jonathan Vincent, Howard Stelzer and Mike
Bullock. Nicole Bindler is highly influenced by comic books. She also
directs political street theater. Occasionally she can be found lying in
the street in protest of war.

Alli Ross is thrilled to be collaborating with such innovative artists
who curiously explore these powerful vehicles we reside in. Her
interests in the performing arts and culture have lead her to study a
broad spectrum of dance forms ranging from West African dance in Ghana
to experiential anatomy in Cambridge, MA. Recent solo, collaborative and
commissioned work includes 'Spillway' Produced by Lailye Weidman,
'Filling up' in the Last Call Improvisation Series at Olivier Besson's
Loft in South Boston and at Mobius, Deborah Hay's Solo Commissioning
project 2000. Alli Ross holds a BA from Skidmore College in Anthropology
and Dance and is currently teaching creative movement in the Boston
Public schools. She is currently studying the art and skill of Massage
at The Muscular Therapy Institute. Deborah Hay, Anne Bogart, Min Tanaka,
Kirstie Simson, Yaucub Addy, Lorinda Garner, Marjorie Morgan, Debra
Bluth and the wise, intelligent Nicole Bindler and Lailye Weidman
continuously present her with inspiration.

Baltimore musicians Catherine Pancake, Dan Breen, Andy Hayleck, and John
Berndt are all memebers of the collective that organizes the Red Room,
and are highly developed local improvisors who work with a broad range
of unusual sounds and ideas. Each has substantial abilities with
conventional unconventional instruments and has collaborated extensively
inside and outside Baltimore with a host of international improvisors.
This performance marks one of the first between this group of
improvisors and nationally know dancers working in with equivently
extreme techniques in experimental movement.
