Asheville NC, Saturday April 26th, from noon-7pm. Come play!!*

A beginner and experienced-dancer friendly contact improvisation workshop.

Saturday April 26th:
12-3pm, 4-7pm.
$30-50 sliding scale for the whole day, or $20-30 for 1st block only.

Also, the next morning, Sunday 4/27: Brando and Michael will be doing the
music at the special outdoor AMC dance wave at Warren Wilson College, from

Teachers:
Michael Hurd
Contact Improv blew Michael's mind in the late 90's and he's been exploring
it ever since. He's interested in efforting less and flying more, and seeks
continually to bring an empty mind and a full heart. A childhood interest
in play, a teenage interest in physics and the lifelong joy of physical
contact found a home in his love of contact improvisation. The practice of
Zen Buddhism brought him to Asheville 11 years ago and he lived at two Zen
Centers for a total of 8 years. The spirit of bringing full presence to
each moment informs his approach to dance. Michael is also a practicing
therapist, with a Masters in Counseling from WCU.
"I like to explore shifting momentum rather than stopping it, and seek this
through some technique and a lot of play."


Brando (Aaron Brandes)
Brando (Aaron Brandes) teaches CI in the U.S. and internationally and
serves on the Board of Directors for Earthdance. Brando has been
instrumental in creating the Earthdance event, CI Ground Research, which
encourages the ongoing research of contact improvisation by dancers from
around the world. Brando trained with Tom Myers at the KMI Institute and is
a certified Fascial Bodywork/Structural Integration practitioner. More
