*PELVIS: AN EXPERIENTIAL ANATOMY WORKSHOP* *in three modules*

*MAY 2-4, 2014*

Module I: *BONE: Principles of Movement and Touch with the Pelvic Skeleton*

FRIDAY, MAY 2, 9:00am - 5:00pm

In this module, lab work will focus on specific aspects of movement,
breath, and hands on work in relation to the skeletal aspects of the
pelvis. Utilizing principles from the Alexander Technique, Body-Mind
Centering, Somatic Experiencing, and experiential anatomy we will discover
the joy, strength, and stability of our pelvic skeleton. With increased
awareness and skill, we will move, touch and experience the juicy
relationship of the pelvis to the whole supportive structure of our bones.
A deeper understanding of the skeletal structure of the pelvis and its
alignment increases the stamina necessary for bodyworkers. Through
explorations with touch, we will learn to listen, receive and support the
skeletal structure of the pelvis.

Module II: *MUSCLE: Principles of Movement and Touch with the Pelvic
Muscles*

SATURDAY, MAY 3, 9:00am - 5:00pm

In this module, we will explore selected muscles in the pelvic region:
psoas, illiacus, quadratus lumborum, pelvic floor muscles and the
diaphragm. Utilizing principles from the Alexander Technique, Body-Mind
Centering, Somatic Experiencing and experiential anatomy, lab work will
focus on unwinding and releasing the musculature for flexibility and ease,
exploring the muscles of the pelvis in relationship to the breathing
mechanism, and learning how to connect and strengthen the muscles of the
pelvis for dynamic movement and power.

Through explorations with touch, we will learn to listen, receive and
support the musculature of the pelvis.

Module III: *ORGANS: Principles of Movement and Touch with the Pelvic
Organs*

SUNDAY, MAY 4, 9:00am - 5:00pm

In this module, we will explore the movement and expression of the pelvic
organs through breathwork, movement, and hands-on work. With principles
from the Alexander Technique, Body-Mind Centering, Somatic Experiencing and
experiential anatomy, lab work will focus on how we can gently and
effectively connect to another's organs through touch and sound, how to
initiate movement through the power and emotion of the organs, and how to
mobilize and release the organs to achieve greater fluidity and freedom in
the pelvic cavity. Through explorations with touch, we will learn to
listen, receive and support the organ systems of the pelvis.
