I've just done a comparison of the changelogs for the 0.6 branch and the
trunk, since the 0.6 branch was committed (nearly 18 months ago,
2006-04-14). I'm attaching the analysis, but the summary would be that
I don't see any work unique to the trunk, beyond perhaps some prep work
for the goal of including setuptools in the standard library for Python
2.5. Basically, all real feature changes and bug fixes have been
backported to the 0.6 branch.
At this point, would we be better off moving aside the current trunk,
and making a new trunk from the 0.6 branch after getting 0.6 finally
released? We would then "cherry pick" any remaining important changes
from the old trunk, while moving forward on top of a codebase which is
actually getting used.
