In the real world, yes. But let's not get ahead of ourselves yet.

Let's just focus on getting this one dependency issue out of the
way before muddying the water with other issues.

To answer the question, things like destination directory for
applications could change ie /opt/myapp or \Program Files\myapp
for linux and windows respectively. But this is a long way
off at our present work rate. We shouldn't think ahead too 
much.
