That use of "hobby" vs. "professional" is completely irrelevant to the
discussion, and is effectively condescending and ad hominem. In my
experience, the quality and committment of a developer's open source work
are often unrelated to whether she gets paid directly by an employer to
do it. Getting paid *does* make it possible to devote more time, rather
than passion, to one's projects.
