[Image-SIG] numbers from image properties

hi,

I need to construct vectors based on images' properties, with one value
for each property.  I can get quite a few simple numbers from PIL, but I
also want to quantify more complex qualities.

There are a lot of vision oriented libraries that will find edges and so
forth, but are there any that will (for instance) just say edgy how an 
image is overall?  With or without python bindings.

I've searched around a bit and not found much.
