[Mailman-Users] does ~mailman _REALLY_ need to be (2)775?

Because I stash sendmail aliases in ~mailman/aliases, I _don't_ have the
mailman directory (2)775.  But all the relevant places (that is,
everything _BUT_ ~mailman/aliases).

Is there some reason that the configure script _HAS TO_ bomb out on me
(and I have to change the permissions, and sendmail has to log to hell
and back for 3 minutes, etc.)
