[Mailman-Users] subscribe problems (email addresses)

Hi..

I noticed this problem and wondered if it was normal....

I setup mailman on my Debian system...
Mailman version 1.1 I think...
(running exim as the MTA)
When I goto the subscribe screen and subsribe with this user:

johnny at sd57.bc.ca

It all works great!
but there is another mail server on a subdomain of "sd57.bc.ca"

so then say another use tries to subscribe as this:

johnny at subdomain.sd57.bc.ca

Then Mailman says that the user is already subscribed...
Is this normal?
