but you have to have cron running to get Mailman up and running,
that's the point. It's required for installation.

Regardless, if it presents a checklist of "things you have to do
other than the RPM installation", clearly that checklist needs to
include "set up cron for Mailman", as Mailman will be a brick without
it.
