[Mailman-Users] the "subscribe" button failed to deliver email. How 2 debug?

I just installed mailman on a FreeBSD 4.4 system with qmail.

I created a new list and received an email that it was created.

I went to the info page and tried to subscribe.

The subscribe script ran okay because the subscribe request is in the 
pending queue. There is a non descript bounce error.

How do I find out and fix the problem that subscribe is having with sending 
mail?
