[Mailman-Users] Trouble with new mailman 2.1 install

I'm doing a new installation of mailman v2.1 beta on a new linux 
server.  During 'make install', I get:

Compiling /usr/local/mailman/Mailman/versions.py ...
Traceback (most recent call first):
   File "/bin/update", line 44, in ?
     import paths
ImportError: no module named paths
make: *** [update] Error 1

What does this mean and what do I do about it?
