Just slapping a text-format footer onto the bottom of an
HTML-formatted message may or may not work, depending on the
receiving MUA. It might display fine for you, but not for someone
else. Even if you have the same program and version as someone else,
your configuration might be different, and that might effect how
things like this are displayed.
The problem is how to embed something like this within the HTML,
so that it would work for everyone. And there is no easy answer for
that question.
