[Mailman-Users] Interest in Using Program

I am the technology person for a private Catholic high school.  We
recently learned about another Catholic high school that was using
Mailman for the alumni page of their website.  What we are interested in
doing is the following:
 
  An alumni email "chat room" where alums can log in, look up the email
address of other  alumni and then exchange messages.
 
Please advise if this is possible for us.  We have our own web server
which is running Novell Netware 6.0.
