Yes I think I did change from public to private, Is that what causes it?
I will try running arch and let you know if it fixes the bad link.

Did you by any chance change the archives of the list concerned from public 
to private after the problem mail had been archived?

Maybe running $prefix/bin/arch on the list will cure the problem.
