Not really, but if you want to access the archive too, you have to put an

Alias /pipermail/ <mailmandir>/archives/public/

And if you are using 2.1.x series, probably you have to add the following
lines to your httpd.conf:

<Directory "<mailmandir>/archives/public/">
        Options FollowSymLinks
        AddDefaultCharset Off
</Directory>
