[Mailman-Users] Broken pipe ??

I am trying to set up a user mailing list for one of my free software
projects.
At first sight, everything seems to work, you can send mail, get confirmation
mails etc.. BUT NO !!!
Responses to confirmation mails never trigger the welcome message, and users
can't get registered...
I did manage to register once, then I could not unregister: each time, I was
receiving the confirmation mail, answered, got the final mail saying it was
ok, but my mail was still on the list !!!
BTW, here is what fills may /var/log/mailman/errors... (bin/check_perms
returned some kind of bad perms to the log files which is now fixed and I
restarted the mailman service.. still get the errors)
( of course, any hint on how to fix this erratic behavour or where to search
for an answer would be greatly apreciated ;o)
