What version of python is running on the Mailman machine (I don't have Core
2 available, so I don't know what it comes with...or what you might have
upgraded to).

Mailman 2.1.5 requires Python 2.3 or newer.  2.3.3 is nice.

The above may have nothing to do with your problem.
