The offender turned out to be SMTP_MAX_SESSIONS_PER_CONNECTION = '50' which
I set mm_cfg.py. Unfortunately, because I also had some restrictions for
handling mail server load in my MTA, exim blocked mailman's operation.
Fortunately, the horror's over :)
