[Mailman-Users] Posts to list returned

I setup a new list.  But the messages aren't going through.  I get a
"returned mail" with the following:

  ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<list at my-domain.com>
   (reason: 550 5.1.1 User unknown)

  ----- Transcript of session follows -----
550 5.1.1 <list at my-domain.com>... User unknown

I have no clue what that error means.  And none of my searching turned up a
solution that worked for me.
