It is best to do
bin/mailmanctl reopen
following any logfile changes done while Mailman is running.
Why not use logrotate? A typical config excerpt for logrotate is
something like
list of paths to mailman's logs {
missingok
sharedscripts
postrotate
/path/to/bin/mailmanctl reopen >/dev/null 2>&1 || true
endscript
}
