/var/log/cron will tell you if it's being run?

Is mailman's crontab installed in /var/spool/cron/mailman or somewhere
in /etc/cron.d? Note that the format of these crontabs is different.
Don't make changes unless you know what you're doing.

man 5 crontab

cron/gate_news normally logs nothing, but if there is any exception or
other output, it will be mailed to the address specified in a MAILTO=
setting in the crontab or if none, to the user it ran under which is
normally the 'mailman' list.
