[PSF-Volunteers] (Somewhat Urgent) Summer of Code Mentors Needed

Hi,

The PSF is participating in the Google Summer of Code (SoC) program and has
received 221 applications from students looking to do summer projects in
open source (in our case with/for Python) in return for $4500 awards upon
completion of their project. We will be accepting 20-30 of these.

Each student needs to be paired with a mentor that can help them with
questions and problems that come up during their work.

Mentors have the option of being paid $500 of their work, although this
payment can be declined to allow it to go to the PSF instead. The time
commitment is probably on the order of a few hours per week per student
(you can mentor more than one) for the rest of the summer.

Details on SoC are here:

http://code.google.com/summerofcode.html

If you are interested in helping out, please contact David Ascher by email
(cc-ed on this message).

Availability of a mentor appropriate for a project is an important part of
the process of ranking and accepting and rejecting proposals. The final
proposal ranking is in progress so if you're interested, please don't
delay!

Thanks!

- Stephan
